Oceanport Council Slays Giant

Many thanks to the Oceanport Boro Council under the leadership of Mayor Chaump for stopping the construction of 60 townhouses on the Seeley property. This victory was not only for the Mayor & Council but also for all of Oceanport. Mayor Chaump was instrumently in retaining the best attorney in the state to fight this incursion into Oceanport. Mr. Surenian was able to clearly & concisely point out the fallacies of Oceanport Holdings LLC's suit. Thanks Mayor Chaump. Keep up the good work. refer to this blog for more information http://oceanport1-reports.blogspot.com/

Perhaps your Posting should be called

Did Oceanport Democrats Bilk Oceanport Residents of Hard Earned Money

What you failed to mention in your posting are some critical facts. The Democrat Mayor and Democratic run Council were not very forthcoming and withheld critical information from the residents about the proposed deal between the Developer and Marina owner.

And please do tell what part the Mayor played in this outcome. Did she perform the legal work, research or attend hearings? She did nothing more than announce the issue at a few Council Meetings. She wants to take credit for work she did not perform.

Please define the role of a true leader and you will certainly find that we are lacking those leadership qualities here in Oceanport.

The public first heard of this major issue through the newspaper. Then there was a large public outcry from the residents at many of the Council Meetings and workshops that followed. Everybody wanted to know why the Democratic Mayor failed to inform the public. However, a satisfactory answer was never provided, other than “We can’t discuss that”. Again good work.

Also there was no mention in your post that your top notch attorney costs the taxpayers of Oceanport, well over a $100,000.00 in hard earned taxpayer cash.

The most critical component to this issue is the fact that the Democratic appointed attorney at the time had to recuse himself from the Builders Remedy Lawsuit. You ask why?

Well this gets very interesting because the Borough Attorney was representing the developer suing the town. As result, the town had to hire an outside attorney and pay him well over $100,000.00.
That’s right, your hard earned money spent on a situation that could have been handled by the Borough Attorney had he not been involved with the Developer and the Engineer hired to draft the Master Plan. I must say that this was certainly great management of Borough funds. But, it certainly has the appearance that this was very calculated planning for financial gain.

And who loses. That’s right, the taxpayer once again.

Why? Simply because the Borough Attorney at time was representing the developer and at the same time was being paid by the Borough of Oceanport, although he could not represent our very own town, even though he is a Real
Estate Attorney. Again good work squandering taxpayer money. And ask yourself who benefitted?

And Lets not forget when this Borough Attorney left Office. The Democratic Mayor and the Democratic Council voted in favor of providing the departing Attorney a lifetime of benefits, which we the taxpayers would have had to finance if not for the diligence of Councilman Sharkey. Mr. Sharkey found that this was in direct violation of policy, which could be precieved as being unethical. Good Job once again.

What a great job. The Borough Attorney was able to basically pull in two paychecks during this time. One from his client, the Developer and one from Oceanport Borough. Not bad. I would like to see the W2 for that year.

Although he did recuse himself from any meetings dealing with the Builders Remedy Lawsuit, he was just outside the door at public meetings and he could have the potential of hearing everything that was going on. This certainly had the perception of being unethical. But so, are many things in the town.

Furthermore, Maser Engineering was hired by the Democratic Controlled Town to draft a Master Plan. And you ask why this is mentioned. Well the engineer was the very same engineer that was doing the consulting work for the Developer suing the town, and remember the Developer was being represented by our very own Borough Attorney. More conflicts of interests?

Lets not forget that Mount Laurel decision, which has been around for well over 30 years. However it was never addressed by the inept Democratic controlled town until it was brought to their door steps by way of a lawsuit. Your right good work. And a side note, the Democrats have been in power for the last twenty-one years. I just can’t imagine all this good work went unnoticed.

Lets also not forget the recent re-evaluation under the Democratic control party. Again another tax hike. Good job once again. Under the current management the Town appears to be mismanaged, unsupervised, and there is not any real accountability of the town’s resources, it’s budget and departments.

Weak leadership is to blame. One needs to ask, who benefits from all this uncontrolled spending and behind the closed door deals. The reputation and credibility of the Democrats are seriously in question. It is Time for change.

There are acts being perpetrated that may hinge on criminal wrongdoing, and possibly unethical.

Just follow the money, the actors and public documents, town council and workshop minutes and you will find your culprits. This only shows that your definition of “Doing a Good Job”, means nothing more than “being Corrupt”.
